This year, I’d love to get my screen time to less than half of my waking hours.
I’m defining screens as phone, computer, and TV. (Also, podcasts on my commute, which aren’t a screen, but you know.) It’s crazy that we live in a society where that’s a goal, and one where achieving it might take some work. We live in the future. The way I figure, this goal means that, ideally, I’d spend only an hour on screens outside of work, or spend less time at work on screens — sketching, brainstorming, meeting, etc.
The goal doesn’t take into account weekends, where there might be lots less time on screens during the day, but I’m okay with that. I figure less time in general on screens would be a good thing. Call this a “soft goal.” I won’t be horrified at myself if I don’t reach it, but it’s good to put it out there and realize how far the balance is shifted towards screen time right now.
