Gloryglow

When all is said and done

and I am gone from this place

the little fame I have acquired during my days

will fade — like a firefly, to be replaced

by another,

and this is how it should be.

Rather than fueling my own flames

to glow a little longer or brighter,

let me turn on my back

and forget my own glow

as I number the stars

and God’s perfections.
