I totally bought this album just for the cover

Above the Golden State is a perfectly adequate album from a wholly acceptable post-Relient-K Christian rock band. If that’s your bottle of sugar water, it’s a pleasant enough way to spend 46.4 minutes. I bought this album a few years ago, and it sits at the top of my iTunes account. And every single time, that yellow, that bear, that simplified modernist text make me happy.

I just realized this morning that this was an utterly visual buy. (Kind of the opposite of Church Music, but that’s a different story about a different Christian rock album for a different time.)

Do you have any albums that, really, when you get right down to it, you kind of realize you bought for a reason other than the music?
