I quit Facebook this weekend. Facebook was like a dude I met in college who used to be pretty cool — he knew whose birthday was when and could connect you with friends. But over the years, he went through a really needy phase where he was in my face all the time, and then he started talking about me behind my back … stuff I hadn’t even told him in the first place. Just recently, he started “following” people and inviting me to follow them too.
It’s not any one thing you did, Facebook. It’s your slow slide into stalkerish behavior that’s putting an end to our friendship.
And Google+, it’s nothing personal … it’s just that I’m coming out of a complicated relationship with Facebook, and it’s all too soon.
