I’m a happily postmodern kid, so I like self-reference (to a certain point). To that end, this series titled Homenaje al cuadro by Pablo Guzman suits me just fine. I love that feeling as you go back and forth between the levels of the painting — trying to see what they’re seeing, then realizing that they themselves are what you should be looking at, then realizing the painting as a whole is a beautiful composition, to the point where it becomes almost abstract, then getting caught up again in, “But what are they looking at?” and starting the whole process over again.
If anyone knows any other good “paintings of paintings” (besides this one) I’d love to hear about ’em.
