I like reading story summaries. But I don’t like reading hype-y, superlative ones — especially when they’re focused on the setting, not on the story. Here’s one that I stopped reading after the first sentence:
REDLINE is about the biggest and most deadly racing tournament in the universe.
Is that what it’s really about? Or is that where it’s set? If it’s about that tournament, I’m already bored by the special effects extravaganza that I haven’t even seen yet. If it’s set at the tournament, but it’s about the racer’s quest to win the heart of a woman, or exorcize the demons of his past, or beat the system, then please tell me more.
REDLINE is about a man winning the heart of a woman at the biggest and most deadly racing tournament in the universe.
Now there’s a story. Now I’m interested.
